A Lotus Grows in Brooklyn

Thanks to all my loyal blog readers and commenters, to my friends who’ve helped me weather the storms of this year, to my crazy family for their support, to my quirky coworkers who’ve helped me grow professionally and personally, and to the city of New York for providing an endless well of inspiration.

A few thoughts to ponder today:

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”

—the Buddha

“Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”

—Charles Dickens

“When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food, and the joy of living. If perchance you see no reason for giving thanks, rest assured the fault is in yourself.”

—Chief Tecumseh of the Shawnee

Also, please take a moment on this holiday to consider the effects of your food choices.

Woot. Happy Thanksgiving, Carrie M!

Crazy family? I protest! What’s for dinner? Personally I am having M&Ms, fritos, and Chex party mix. I made some ham and bean soup, but I gave it to the foxes. What’s crazy about that?

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Carolyn. I missed not having you at my house yesterday. I look forward to seeing you at Christmas. I am certainly crazy. I will not argue.
