A Lotus Grows in Brooklyn

‘sNice = ‘sOkay

I went back to ‘sNice in Park Slope last night because I wanted a quick vegan goodie for dinner. And I was, once again, underwhelmed. I don’t know what they are doing wrong other than that their sandwiches and treats are merely okay—lacking in flavor but overpriced.

I got a Cuban panini, with soy ham, soy cheese, and pickles. It was tasty, but nothing I couldn’t have made pretty easily myself at home. And then I wouldn’t have had to pay the exorbitant price of $8.75 for one sandwich.

I’ve also had vegan cookies from ‘sNice before, and they share that problem of being hard, crumbly, and bland that I was complaining about yesterday.

The lessons here?

1) If you’re looking for vegan comfort food in the Slope, walk the extra few blocks to The V-Spot rather than ‘sNice.

2) Cooking and baking home is always a more economical and potentially tastier way to go.
