The Renegade Craft Fair at McCarren Park in Williamsburg last weekend featured 300 vendors … and all of them were selling the exact same thing.

Okay, that’s not really fair. But there are only so many $45 organic cotton tote bags silk-screened with cutesy owls that one person can own.

il_430xN_72081993One vendor really stood out to me, though: PrettyTheory, which takes old books and refashions them into purses, jewelry, and bookmarks. Now, I’ve seen this kind of thing before, but they really took the cake as far as inventiveness. There sizes and shapes from little clutch purses made from old Hardy Boys books to big shoulder purses  re-purposed from1960s cookbooks. Very cool.

Didn’t buy anything, but maybe you should! Check out their Etsy store here.
